The Arkansas Teacher Academy Scholarship is a program that offers aspiring teachers up to $6,000 for tuition and program fees each semester for undergraduate studies. For every year a student receives funding, the student is required to teach in an Arkansas public school. Graduate programs may also be covered with the same work requirement.

Requirements: Within one year of completion, Academy attendees must teach in an Arkansas public school for each year of funding received. Acceptance in the Arkansas Teacher Academy Scholarship program from participating institutions.

Who May Apply:

Students with some or no college credit can qualify. However, they must maintain satisfactory academic progress each semester, towards becoming a licensed teacher in Arkansas.

Award Amount:
Up to $6,000 per semester for tuition and program fees

State Teacher Education Program | STEP

STEP is a loan repayment program that offers yearly loan repayment grants to current educators teaching in a subject or geographic shortage area in an Arkansas public school. Teachers must reapply each year and are eligible for up to three years.

Who May Apply:
Eligible educators who are practicing in a geographic and/or subject shortage area of the state, and have outstanding federal student loan debt.

Award Amount:
Up to $6,000 of remaining loan balance

The Teacher Opportunity Program (TOP) offers tuition reimbursement grants to Arkansas teachers and administrators. Teachers and administrators may apply for reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses paid for up to six (6) college credit hours completed for each academic year, not to exceed $3000 ( The academic year is defined as summer, fall, and spring semesters, in that order, per ADHE ) . Unfortunately, payments made with scholarships, grants, or aid given through a third party is not considered for reimbursement.
